Gaya was HERE
by Finn Szumlas
Discover the emotional journey of Gaya through an evocative documentary portrait of an economically displaced mother and her two young children.
THE STORY OF GAYA
The short documentary follows 24-year-old Gaya, a mother navigating the turbulent housing market in Amsterdam after her divorce.
Struggling to find a safe and stable home for herself and her two young children, Gaya moves from temporary solution to temporary solution, caught in the endless search for a place to call home.
Shot on 16mm film, this evocative portrait captures the emotional and physical toll of living in uncertainty.
As Gaya dreams of a paradisiacal home, the film delves into the complexities of displacement, resilience, and the quest for stability in a city that offers little security.
