WHAT?
Get ready for an exciting night—Shortcutz style!
On January 19th, 2025, we’re bringing the 12th Shortcutz Amsterdam Annual Awards to Eye. This is your chance to see the finest emerging Dutch filmmakers recognised for their incredible short films in categories like Best Film, Best Acting, Best Writing, Best Directing, and much more.
But there’s more to it than trophies and applause. Each year, we invite a few special guests—some of the biggest names in the industry—to share the wisdom they wish they’d had when they were starting out. Even if you don’t take home an award, you’ll leave feeling inspired and ready to tackle your next film project.
Who’s on our Jury Team? Legendary Jan Harlan (The Shining), Christopher Mack (Netflix International Originals), Elise Schaap (Ferry), Roel Reiné (Marvel’s Inhumans), Willeke van Ammelrooy (Antonia’s Line), Eddy Terstall (Simon), former Eye senior programmer René Wolf, and street artist Laser 3.14.
In memory of our late ambassador, Rutger Hauer, we’re honouring someone (or an institution) who, like Rutger, has made a significant impact on the next generation of Dutch filmmakers.
This year’s ceremony idents are all AI-generated by artist Rodger Werkhoven. He has spent decades at the forefront of merging art and technology. In 2022, he joined OpenAI to combat AI biases and collaborated on the groundbreaking Creative Reality Studio.
When the awards wrap up, stick around for the after-party at Eye Café. Everyone’s invited—so bring your dancing shoes, toast to the winners, and party like there’s no tomorrow.
Are you ready to celebrate the future of Dutch cinema? Grab your tickets now and join us on January 19th. We can’t wait to see you!
