Legendary actor RUTGER HAUER acting career was launched in 1969, when he took the starring role in Paul Verhoeven’s popular TV Show, Floris, but he didn’t catch the attention of American audiences until the 1980s, when he appeared in Nighthawks (1981) with Sylvester Stallone, and became notorious by playing fan favorite Roy Batty, a murderous replicant in Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner (1982), where he delivered one of the most impressive improvisation moments in the history of cinema.
He also managed to capture a few hearts in the medieval fantasy
Ladyhawke (1985) playing Captain Navarre. Taking on a very different acting role that same year, Rutger terrorized C. Thomas Howell — and audiences — as a psychotic drifter in The Hitcher where he also did his own dangerous stunts, which led to more action-adventure films like Wanted: Dead or Alive and Blind Fury. Hauer also garnered critical acclaim in 1988 for his role in The Legend of the Holy Drinker (Golden Lion winner, Venice Film Festival), which won him the Best Actor award at the Seattle International Film Festival.
Rutger continued to act in both TV and film over the next several decades, scoring a memorable role in Sin City (2005) as the evil and corrupt Cardinal Roark, and again poked fun at himself - and the grindhouse action genre - as the “Hobo” in Hobo with a Shotgun, a 2011 film based on a fake trailer made by Director Robert Rodriguez. He also plays Abraham Van Helsing in the Italian horror maestro Dario Argento’s version of Dracula (2012).
Rutger can be seen in Luc Besson's upcoming movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and the TV series Mata-Hari.

MARTIN KOOLHOVEN started off with strongly stylized films that were all hailed by the critics, but never gained commercial success. This all changed in 2005 when he went mainstream with Schnitzel Paradise. It not only received rave reviews (both inside and outside the Netherlands), but was also the highest grossing Dutch film of that year. The film was shown at many international film festivals (such as the Berlin Film Festival and the Karlovy Vary Film Festival where it was part of the Variety Critic's choice.) and was sold to more than 20 countries; a remarkable achievement for a Dutch film.
Koolhoven released Bonkers the same year, making him the first director to have two films in the Dutch box office top 20. His next film, 'n Beetje Verliefd (2006) (Happy Family), became his third hit film in two years time, earning him another Golden Film.
But it was his following film Oorlogswinter (Winter in Wartime), based on Jan Terlouw's hit novel by the same name, which went platinum. It not only grossed more money than all his previous movies combined, but well equally well reveiced amongst critics (including a rave review by Variety). It was the number one Christmas movie of 2008 in The Netherlands (beating The Dark Knight and Twilight in the process)and the Dutch entry for the Academy Awards. It made the shortlist of nine movies, but failed to get nominated.
After a long seven year hiatus, Koolhoven now finally returned to cinema with his English-language debut BRIMSTONE. A western starring exciting names such as: Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Dakota Fanning (The Twilight Saga), Guy Pearce (Memento) and Carice Van Houten (Game of Thrones, Zwartboek). After graduating in Political Science RUDOLF VAN DEN BERG made his first professional documentary, 'Algerian Times', in 1976. In 1980, determined to learn more about feature film, he took the night bus to Italy. In Rome, he managed to get in touch with Italian director Marco Ferreri who offered him a humble position on his set. A decisive experience. In the famous studios of Cinecitta Rudolf got the chance to witness the director's craft. Two years later Rudolf directed his first feature film, 'Bastille', for which he received the Golden Calf (aka the Dutch Oscar) for best film. More feature films and awards followed while Rudolf showed his diversity as a filmmaker, such as 'Evenings', 'Looking for Eileen' and 'The Johnsons' (a horror film that still enjoys a modest worldwide cult status).
When, in 1996, Rudolf's English language films 'The Cold Light of Day' and 'For My Baby' were doing well internationally but not in The Netherlands, Rudolf decided to try his luck in the US. In Los Angeles he met renowned film producer Pierre Spengler. Together they made the film 'Snapshots', starring Burt Reynolds and Julie Christie.
In 2007, after reading 'Tirza' by Dutch novelist Arnon Grunberg, Rudolf knew he had to make a feature film again. In 2012, Rudolf and his team brought 'Süskind' to the screen. A controversial view on the annihilation of the Dutch Jewry, a stunning film experience. Rudolf's most discussed and renowned documentaries are 'The Alien's Place', 'Sal Santen Rebel' and, more recently 'Hamartía'.
His upcoming film Een Echte Vermeer is expected to hit Dutch Cinema in Autumn this year and we are looking forward to watching a short sneak peek of this movie and finding out more about this project.
