RUTGER HAUER AWARD

The RUTGER HAUER AWARD is awarded every year to a person who has been a role model for the new generation of filmmakers or an institution that has made an extraordinary effort to develop and promote new Dutch film talents.

The prize is a limited-edition photo of Rutger Hauer, made and signed by renowned photographer and film director Anton Corbijn.

This award went previously to film director Paul Verhoeven and to the project ‘Kort!’, a programme for the new talent that has produced 200 short films in 20 years.

In the last years of his life, Hauer, who passed away in July 2019, devoted himself to guiding and supporting the development of young filmmakers. For Shortcutz Amsterdam, he was an active ambassador and advisor until his death.

This year film director MARTIN KOOLHOVEN is the winner of the RUTGER HAUER AWARD.

Maarten Treurniet, on behalf of the Shortcutz Board, states: “The board of the Shortcutz Foundation is pleased to announce that Martin Koolhoven is this year's winner of the Rutger Hauer Award. Martin Koolhoven is a role model for many young filmmakers. Not only because he is a very gifted filmmaker but also because he is a strong advocate for talent development.
