We can’t wait to welcome director SHARIFF NASR and actor FAHD LARHZAOUI from the film EL HOUB as our Special Guests!!

EL HOUB is the first feature to discuss the sensitivity of coming out in the Dutch-Moroccan community, and it’s the debut feature film of director Shariff Nasr. The film can be seen now in cinemas, so don’t forget to check it out and bring all those burning questions to this session.

Special Guests

Shariff Nasr is an award-winning director and writer with a talent for both dramatic and comical narrative. He gets inspired by emotions we try to hide or ignore and social problems to which we close our eyes. In his work, he often uses comedy as a weapon to fight for social issues. He began his career in advertising as a copywriter and utilizes those skills as a creative director with a strong cinematographic vision. Shariff has worked a lot with non-profit causes as well as big multinational consumer brands from all around the globe like Tommy Hilfiger, Cupasoup and Axe. He finished directing his long feature film ‘El houb’ for cinema this year with a première at the San Francisco International Film Festival in June. Furthermore, he has written the successful long feature romantic comedy “F*ck love” in 2019 and is writing “F*ck Love 2” at the moment. Shariff has won various prizes along the way, including ‘Best Commercial of 2009′ (Fonk), ‘National Educational prize for best film’ for his 50 minute documentary ‘Little Stars of Bethlehem’, several ‘SpinAwards’‘Audience awards‘, a ‘Grand Prix’ and more…

Fahd started his career in theater and worked with various companies and directors. In 2007 Larhzaoui won the audience award for best international play at the F.I.T.U.C. Festival in Casablanca with the play Casadam. In 2014 he presented his solo performance Schijn (Appearance), in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Surinam and Curaçao. The show was shortlisted for the prestigious 'Dutch Theatre Festival' in 2014. For his second solo performance, Shirt Uit Fahd at Het Zuidelijk Toneel, he was cited as one of the top 3 leads on stage by critics of newspaper NRC Handelsblad. Larhzaoui played parts in multiple television series such as Flikken Rotterdam, Moordvrouw Season 7, Papadag 2 and films like Meskina, Rabat and My Father is an Airplane. This year Larhzaoui can be seen as the leading role in the international feature film El Houb by director Shariff Nasr. He plays the Moroccan-Dutch Karim who returns to his parental home to reveal to his parents that he is gay. He will also be seen in the new show Het Gouden Uur and the film Eerlijk Gestolen.
