New Dates, PROGRAMME, Format & Rules

UPDATE OCtober 14th:

Dear Shortcutterz,

We are really, really sad to inform you that all weekly sessions for the rest of the season are now cancelled.
Due to the new Covid-19 restrictions, our venue De Kring must close for at least one month.

Don’t fret! The remainder of the season’s programme will be online. Stay tuned for updates!
Regarding the competition:

  • The nominees for all categories of the 8th Shortcutz Amsterdam Annual Awards will be announced in December

  • The 8th Shortcutz Amsterdam Annual Awards are planned for January 24th 2021 at EYE, in a hybrid format and reduced capacity.

Due to the virus outbreak, we’re forced to cancel a full half-season of weekly sessions. Shortcutz Amsterdam is planning to change the format and rules of the sessions to keep UP with the programme and guarantee the safety of our audience and team.

All these measurements may be changed in case of further developments.

Shortcutz Amsterdam is planning to have weekly sessions on:

  • #225 Session: September 8th

  • #226 Session: September 15th

  • #228 Session: October 6th

  • #229 Session: October 13th

  • #230 Session: October 20th - CANCELLED

  • #231 Session: October 27th - CANCELLED

  • #232 Session: November 3rd - CANCELLED

  • #233 Session: November 10th - CANCELLED

  • #234 Session: November 17th - CANCELLED

  • #235 Session: November 24th - CANCELLED

New RULEs & PROGRAMME

  • The sessions will have a hybrid format. This means a reduced capacity at our venue, De Kring. A live stream will be available for wider audiences. Please note that live streams will not be accessible after screenings have ended.

  • More competing short films per session: We will have 4-5 films in competition per session (instead of two). (The dates previously announced for the films in competition were rescheduled)

  • No Special Guests in our 2020 weekly sessions, Special Guests this year will be programmed through the online sessions hosted by Shortcutz Network: MOVIE TALKZ. This is an opportunity to break geographic restrictions, work with our sister cities and bring you cool international guests that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.

  • The jury team will not select monthly winners: Towards the end of November 2020, the jury will announce 7 nominees for Best Film of the Year, and in December 2020, will announce the nominees for all other categories in our Annual Awards.

  • Reduced submission fee: As of May 17th, we will reduce the submission fee by 50%, until the end of 2020, to cope with these times. If you have a short film to submit, you can do so here.

MANDATORY TICKETS RESERVATION

To guarantee everyone’s safety, Shortcutz Amsterdam will limit the number of attendees at our sessions. We will keep track of developments to adjust these measurements. We will also broadcast our sessions live, so everyone can join regardless of ticket limitations.

We will open the option to pre-register for the sessions. Please do not forget to register.
